Venezuelan Contemporary Sculptor

Alberto Spinetti is a Venezuelan contemporary sculptor blending abstraction and figuration in bronze and mixed media. His internationally exhibited works reflect resilience, transformation, and cultural identity.

Biography

Alberto Spinetti is a Venezuelan sculptor whose career reflects both international training and deep cultural roots. Now based in Mexico, he creates sculptures in bronze, iron, and mixed media that merge figuration and abstraction. His practice is guided by a search for balance between strength and vulnerability, order and emotion, resilience and transformation

.

Spinetti trained at the Armando Reverón Institute of the Arts in Caracas, Venezuela, pursued advanced studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, and completed postgraduate studies at the Kyoto City University of Arts in Japan, under the mentorship of artist Matsui Shiro. His influences include modern masters such as Henry Moore, Isamu Noguchi, and Barbara Hepworth, as well as Latin American artists like Ricardo Martínez and Jiménez Deredia.

His sculptures often focus on the human figure, bulls, and horses, evoking myth, heritage, and collective memory. To Spinetti, sculpture is tactile and visceral — to be embraced, touched, and experienced from every angle. His works honor traditional craftsmanship in bronze and iron while infusing them with contemporary spirit.

Spinetti has exhibited internationally, with shows in Mexico, the United States, Spain, and Japan. His works are held by galleries including D-Gallerie (St. Petersburg, FL), Oscar Román (Mexico City), Dawson Cole (Carmel, U.S.), and Lurie Gallery (Los Angeles).
